The Change in Colonial-Indian Relations in the Early 17th Century
This is my culminating paper from my First-Year Seminar, Indigenous Virginia. This paper explores the change in relations between the English colonists and the Powhatans in Virginia from 1600-1622. It tracks the shift from English notions of dominion and civility to war as well as the emergence of the concept of Native Ground.
I selected this paper as my best piece of writing from my seminar because it pushes forth new ideas instead of echoing the ones from the classroom.
