Every Tuesday afternoon the Dartmouth students gather together to try their hand at Chinese painting, in the spirit of Chinese calligraphy and traditional art style.
Each week we receive instruction on how to paint various subjects, such as lotus flowers, leaves, lobsters, and crabs. All lessons are based on the work of traditional Chinese painter, Qi Baishi. In China, lobster is literally “dragon shrimp”. It represents energy and spirit, and regeneration, resoluteness.
