I will be providing feedback on Kira & Kayuri’s presentation on mining in Nicaragua.

I thought the presentation done by Kira and Kayuri was excellent. I thought they masterfully integrated a lot of different aspects that play a role in the mining industry in Nicaragua. They started with a concise, yet informative history and background. I thought it was especially interesting that they presented the pitch trying to promote the mining industry in Nicaragua, because this demostrates the perspective of those who see Nicaragua as a source of profit and nothing else. It also effectively illustrates how these companies are attracted to Nicaragua because of their lax regulations and possible exploitation. For me it was especially interesting how the conversation was mainly about all the advantages of this area to get economic gain and no mention of the possible negative impact.

Continuing, their assessment of the impact of mining in Nicaragua was thorough. They included both the pros and cones in regards to health, economics, social issues. I though the integration of the political underling influences was also very well done, because it was both the presentation of the political statements and the underling significance of the politics for Nicaragua. Additionally, I thought that the analysis of the impact of gold was thoughtful and showed dedication to the research and careful examination of their findings. Furthermore, the choice of making B2 gold their specific case study was a good one, because it presented a tangible example to the audience and as we saw is highly relevant in Nicaragua at the moment.

Additionally, the presentation was well balanced between text and pictures, which made it easy for the audience to follow and stay engaged. The presenter did refer back to notes from time to time, but I think this was appropriated in the interest of giving the most accurate information. Lastly both Kira and Kayuri were articulate and clearly very knowledgeable about their topic.
